The other night I spent several hours moving between Twitter, MyBlogLog, Typepad, Ning, AddThis, CrowdVine and Squidoo. The task? Updating my information and adding content.
I spend anywhere from 1-3 hours each day making sure my information is up to date and add things that are relevant for my audience. And I'm at the bottom of most every ranking on every site. I can't imagine how much time the traffic leaders spend tweaking their content.
Even with the time I put in, I always feel like there's more I can do. Each of the sites above (and there are many more like them) encourage you to continually add content, link to other sources, comment on other websites, link back to your site and on and on and on! You can begin to feel, as I do, that you have to keep on posting to stay current.
And I do. Not because of the pressure. Not to climb the rankings. Not to finally get my article on Digg's main page. But because I love doing it. More than anything, I want to share what I find and, just maybe, lead someone to information they've been looking for.
